Emergency presented on a table, is composed of 48 piles of A4 paper forming 500 surface of the word “emergengy”. Printed in orange on grey background and alternately in grey on orange background.
Dimensions of a surface emergency : 47 1/4 x 99 1/4 in- 120 x 252 cm.
Each layer or surfaces is dated, located and signed by the artist.
Each surface was to be taken away in a 9 x 17 3/4 in - 229 x 324 mm envelope revealing the next surface in the piles.
The edition was first shown in 1994 at Froment & Putman Gallery in Paris.
Emergency as a surface of emergence is gradually spreading over the world.
